An unforgettable finale at the World Aquatics Championships transpired at the final day of competition in Singapore! In the men’s 10-meter platform final, spectators witnessed a true diving thriller — intense, emotional, and historic.
Ukraine’s top diver, Oleksii Sereda, showed incredible composure and class, securing a silver medal — his fifth career World Aquatics Championships medal! 🌍👏

💥 Sereda amassed 515.20 points, a season best, by putting together another world-class performance, confirming his status as a global elite competitor. This medal is also historic as Sereda now holds the record for the most World Aquatics Championships medals among Ukrainian platform divers!
It also marks Ukraine’s 16th medal at the World Diving Championships since 1998. Moreover, this edition of the Championships marked the first time in many years that no Chinese diver appeared on the podium in this event – an absolute stunner and a massive upset!
“I’m happy with this result. I can see my progress, I can see that all the training is paying off. That really motivates me to keep working harder and stronger. I’m glad this season ended this way — this medal made it a successful one.” — Oleksii Sereda
Sereda also dedicated this medal to Ukraine’s defenders:
“This medal is thanks to the men and women of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who are giving their most precious gift — their lives — so that people like us, athletes and civilians, can train, sleep safely, make plans, dream. I want to dedicate this medal to them.”
Sereda said that although he fell short of gold by around 20 points, he believes there is room to grow and he is determined to fight for the top spot of the podium next season:
“I finished second because I didn’t make any major mistakes, but there’s a lot to improve. We’ll start preparing for the next competitions right away.”
This was Ukraine’s only medal at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships.

Mission Complete!
Comments from Sereda’s Personal Coach – Tamara Tokmachova
“First of all, this silver medal means much more to me than the two bronze medals we won in Doha. Secondly, we’ve been traveling non-stop for two months — Poland, Budapest, then the Philippines. And the training camp in the Philippines was terrible. Awful conditions, flies everywhere. Then finally Singapore. So this was one of the hardest preparations we’ve had, but the result made it all worth it.”
She emphasized that Sereda is not yet in peak form due to a recent shoulder surgery. The recovery was accelerated to prepare for the last Olympics in Paris:
“Our doctor said recovery should take a full year, but we had to fast-track that. We know what needs to be worked on. The plan for the final was achieved. Had he done a better back dive, the twists, and the reverse, he would have won gold. But he lacked a bit of physical sharpness.”
She also noted a key weakness in Ukraine’s setup — the lack of an on-site strength and conditioning coach:
“Other teams — the Brits, the Italians, not to mention the Chinese and Mexicans — all have top-level S&C coaches, medical staff, and rehab experts with them. We don’t. We do strength training online. Oleksii does it by himself, without a coach — and that’s obviously not ideal.”

The Unsung Heroes
It’s also important to acknowledge the support of the President of the Ukrainian Diving and Artistic Swimming Federation, Ihor Lysov, whose efforts have ensured that, despite all challenges, Ukraine’s top athletes can train and compete at the highest level.
Congratulations to Oleksii Sereda, his coach Tamara Tokmachova, the entire coaching staff, and all the professionals involved in preparing our new World Silver Medalist! 🇺🇦
